ORANGE MUCH?

This scarf is a Mr P. buy, who would've said? As are the jeggings and boots. They really are out doing themselves lately! Way-ta-go! :) This gorgeous blouse is by Y&O at YDE.

Jodi, you have the most beautiful smile, quit being so damn serious! :)

PS. please excuse my colour + black&white excitement!

TREES ARE FOREVER

I love this A LOT! Do couples still carve their initials in big old trees? Or is that just so Days Of Our Lives ie Bo & Hope?! [Just to clear this up, me and Days Of Our Lives is a thing of the past]. Boyfriend, lets do this please?
This is something that shouldn't happen only in movies.

I found this beauty here.

PHOTOGRAPHY & ANTIQUES

I did a course last year at varsity that focused on early film. To all you photography lovers out there, here's something you might find very interesting: the first photograph ever taken was by Joseph Nicéphore Niépce, in 1826. The camera lens was exposed for a full eight hours. Interestingly, due to the length of time in the sun, there are several different shadows and angles of light in this photograph.

If you're keen on finding out more, this site is pretty informative.

Here are some lovely snaps of beautiful people with their stylish antiques:

I wish that I'd taken these pics myself, but sadly, I didn't. The first pic is I found here, the second here, the third here, the forth one here, and the the last one here. The last 2 are my personal favourites. Which ones blow you away? If you find any more pics like this that you think I'd die to see, please forward me a link.

Peace.

I LOVE WINE :)

Last night, Ty and I finished off a bottle of this divine Backsberg Cabernet Sauvignon 2006. As you can see, these photos aren't too clear as I was in the process of polishing off this particular bottle :)
[No judgement, please]

As the wine fundi's describe (in very serious copy writing) the taste of this Cabernet Sauvignon at Backsberg Estate Cellars:

"Spicy aromas of liquorice and vanilla mingled with blackcurrant fruit. Layers of fruit and oak tannins provide the necessary framework for ripe full fruit flavours of plum and blackberry. Complex and long, this Cabernet Sauvignon has depth and power and will reward further bottle ageing under cellar conditions."

ON A SERIOUS NOTE

Also, worldwide, over 600 women die each day from cervical cancer. Cervical cancer is not hereditary, as some people believe but is a disease caused by a common virus called Human Papillomavirus (HPV).

And because cervical cancer is caused by a virus it can be stopped and prevented. All you need is a series of 3 injections, over a period of 6 months. I had my first one today, so am therefore one third of the way to being cervical cancer free. I know needles are kinda scary, but it is so worth it!

DIGGING IN MOM'S CLOSET

This red jersey is probably older than Jodi-Lee, but it is still in such good quality and as far as chunky knits go, pretty darn beautiful. The buttons are really cool (you just don't get buttons that look like this today) - the wool is knit over the whole button.

I'm not sure if you've noticed that Jodi-Lee has very unusual hair (if you haven't yet, you will in the photo's to come). She goes to a studio in PMB called Blu Gel. I love it, her hair really suits her. But i must admit, i don't think I'd be so brave. I'm the long hair type.

BOTANIC GARDENS

Two of my very lovely friends from the good old school days were so eager to come stay with me for a few days on the very bustling PMB (not so bustling, but lovely none the less), which is my home away from home. I tried to keep them occupied so that they wouldn't think that PMB is a hole of a town (the hole that it actually is). Yesterday we decided to go to the Botanic Gardens for some fresh air and a nice stroll.. And even possibly, a picnic. We had the best time playing in the leaves and spinning around (like you do when you're five-years-old).

WORLD CUP DRESS CODE

The most current talked about fashion-must-haves are related to the soccer matches and supporters favourite teams... Maybe.

Last night, while watching the NED vs URU semi, my mate, Quin Bache, suggested I do a post on supporters fashion. Thanks man. Here it is.

A classic example: my cousin, Heather, and her boyfriend, Craig, went to watch the Netherlands vs Slovakia game this last week and they were highly kitted out! Supporters of NED (obviously), wearing bright orange overalls, orange wigs and soccer ball hats (I wish I had a photo to put up, because it was just too funny). Because everything was bought new, I'm sure it cost them a small fortune. They reported back, with much excitement, that many eager fans were desperate to snap some pics of their sexy new outfits!

When watching fans on TV, no one is under dressed (to say the least). There was a Uruguay supporter with her whole face painted as a cat's (honestly, who does that outside a 2-year-olds birtday party?!)

The Mexican's actually wore giant stuffed roosters on their heads, and the English dressed fully in Crusaders uniforms or masked as Queen Elizabeth.

Committed.

REASONS & LACE

Many of you may be wondering why I decided to start a blog (actually, you probably aren't - I mean, who wouldn't want one!?) I was always pretty anti-blogging, but I claim that's because I didn't really understand it at all! "Who would wanna write about their feelings all over the internet for random strangers to see?" - But lets be honest, it isn't much about your feelings anyway is it! Opinions and thoughts and ideas, yes!

I decided to start a blog because of awesome bloggers like PostSecret, I Wrote This For You and Glossary. Mostly though, my boyfriend, Tyron Bache, is pretty big into web presence and insisted that I start one (pretty fickle yes), but I'm so glad I did :)

I chose to use Blogger, by Google, because the above mentioned blogs use that platform. This may not be the best reason, but I figured that if all the best looking blogs use the Blogger platform, there's nothing stopping mine from being totally awesome as well!

I used a template by Lena Toews, I changed all the images and colours; although I did keep the backgroud (and can I please say that I think it's just beautiful!) The header consists of photos that I took and drawings that I did myself. In the photos I used roses, beads and lace - I think just because they're feminine and delicate, and being pretty old school, I love that kinda stuff!

If you haven't started a blog, what the hell are you waiting for?! :)

GRANNY'S PATTERN SKIRT

This is Jodi-Lee. The signature piece in this outfit is the skirt right? You'll never guess where she got it - our gran made it! And I think its pretty cute... I looked how it was made and its literally a piece of material with a hem down the back and a piece of elastic around the waist.

THE BUSH & FASHION

So my blogging didn't get off to a very good start. I was away visiting family in a little farm town called Eston, and trying to get signal is pretty much a lost cause. So I spent my days in the beautiful winter's sun, playing tennis (and getting my ass kicked), sitting by the fire during the fairly cold evenings and yes, of course watching some of the world cup.

Writting blog posts were not a complete write off as a lot of my time was spent with my cousin, Jodi-Lee. She is a fashion student at Elizabeth Galloway in Stellenbosch and had lots to show and tell me about life and clothes in her world.

In fact, she was even kind enough to compile some of her favourite outfits for me. I am dying to share them with you, so I will do a series of blog posts regarding her clothes and thoughts on studying fashion design. (Coming soon, depending on whether I can find a camera cable or not).
