AIMEE'S 21ST & [AWFUL] PHOTOSHOPPING

Last weekend I had such a lovely time at a friend's 21st. All my housemates and I compiled a slide show for Aimee (which I must say turned into a big fat disaster). One of the points that I handled is her huge infatuation with hot, famous boys. They are as follows: Edward Cullen, Chuck Bass, Freddie Michalak, and Josh Hopkins (from Cougar Town ~ hilarious show by the way). I photoshopped Aimee's face into pics with these particular guys. This one below is probably my best attempt. I would love to show you the others, but they are far too awful. Heehee :)

P.S: It is easy and very rewarding to see your face next to a hottie!

CHRIS NICHOLLS PHOTOGRAPHY

I posted a couple photos by Chris Nicholls in this post, and since seeing his site, have been totally in love! Here's a few more from a shoot he did in 2008, called Weddingbells.

These dresses are absolutely stunning, but the reason these pics caught my eye is because of the rustic background, and the lack of scenery. The simple frame or stool and textured walls is stunning.

Earrings - Stark Raven Mod Earrings
Ring - We Didn't Start the Sapphire Ring

Happy Shopping :)

I AM AN ARTIST

Up until 2 months ago I was an art student. Yes, I am aware that I've never mentioned it online. Shocking move Megan. Being an artist is something I am very proud to be called. Creating art makes me so happy but studying it and being under all that pressure just got a bit much.

For the first time in a really long time (except for the work I did for my lecturers), I'm starting to paint again. It is such a good feeling to paint for someone else ME!

I'll be sure to put some of my work up soon... But for now I'll show you a couple pics of some paint my Grandad gave me that he used to use. It is ancient, he probably bought it 25 years ago. Antique? Love!

For those of you who have even the smallest amount of artistic ability, stop reading this and go make art - be it painting, ceramics, sewing, drawing, doodling, or just making random things. It's good for the soul :)

NEUTRALS ARE PURE HAPPINESS

I have always said that if I could wear neutrals everyday I'd be the happiest girl in the world. Perhaps a strange thing to say, but I am so in love with what is calm. Neutrals and pastels are a big calm factor in my book! I have this odd phobia of harsh colours. So when blondes dye their hair black, it seriously freaks me out. I hate loud noises; slamming doors, wooden floors creaking, you catch my drift.

Anyway, here are some images that make me really happy:

This work by Chris Nicholls honestly caused my jaw to drop. Have a look at his website, what a stunning array of photography.

Sarah Jane Webber created the I Love Leroy fashion line. I love the neutrals here. The first pic is my ultimate favourite!

These gorgeous pics are from Alix's blog, The Cherry Blossom Girl. Love love love! I would like to buy her.

Peace & Calm for you all xo

OH MY FREAKING VINTAGE

Hi all! So in my previous post I told you all I was going to upload some pics of this gorgeous little row of boutiques in Howick the boyfriend and I went to while at Midmar for the long weekend. We found two little stores in particular that I fell in love with!

Megan (whispers to Tyron): I wonder if we can take pics in here?
(perhaps said a little too loudly)

Shop_Guy: It's a free country. I'm not gonna stop you.

Megan: Uh cool thanks.
(click click)

In love with these old beauties!

Such gorgeous leather cases, with the most lovingly-worn textures.

Have you been to any great antique stores lately?

LITTLE WEEKEND GETAWAY

The boyfriend and I decided that we needed a little away time; from life, work and all communication with the outside world. It was wonderful. So we set off to Midmar for the long weekend. It was divine to have time alone without pressures of the world. I would highly recommend it! We camped (without electricity - I mean really, camping with electricity isn't really camping at all is it?). We got to make bon-fires and cook on a tiny little gas thing [I'm a girl, don't ask me what it's called :)]. It was like our own little house.

Day One:
The sunset was so beautiful. And I'm the biggest fan of silhouettes! (Both pics are pretty similar, but one just looked too lonely).

Day Two:
I woke up at some crazy hour of the morning, obviously freezing, and climbed outside for a quick loo visit to find this amazing sky. Ok, so quick moment of honesty: it's been maybe only a handful of times that I've seen the sky look this way as I am never awake so early; and maybe the times I have seen it's beauty this way is due to a very late night. Anyway, I grabbed my camera and quickly framed what I saw. Breathtaking. (A photo clearly doesn't do it justice).

Tyron and I spent some of the day in Howick at a 'tourist trap' of boutique shops. We found such a lovely antique store where I photographed old cameras, furniture and a piano. I've never seen anything like it. A post on it coming soon ~ because it was so wonderful it deserves it's very own piece.

Day Three:
Close to camp there were some trees that had become a little submerged by the dam and died. Kinda sad, but a beautiful sight none the less. And seriously stinky!

As the sun set I snapped some stunner pics of the trees, and more importantly, my man :)

Thanks for reading about my silly little trip, hope you enjoyed it. Peace xo

LOOK, I FOUND THIS

Hey Everyone! So right to it then ~ I stumbled across this intriguing tweet by PostSecret a couple hours ago.

"In case we don't speak in the future I'll just tell you now, I'm naming my daughter after you."

Here are my thoughts about this:
  • At first glace this might seem quite simple, but on closer inspection I discovered that there was more to this than meets the eye.
  • It got me thinking who's involved, like what kind of relationship this is.
  • There is evidently a lot of love, and therefore a lot of happiness and pain in this.
  • The kind of love that is desperate to extend the lost loved one into their possible future.
  • Will they ever see each other again?
I would love to know your thoughts on this secret.
And jeepers, this sad relationship tugs at my heart ~

    GARDEN WEDDING PERFECTION

A couple weeks ago Ty and I attended my friend, Simone, and her man, Matthew's wedding. Her mom spent the past three months in the garden, in the desire of making it spectacular. And spectacular it was! There wasn't a hint of winter in sight! There's a little stream that flows through their garden which added to the whole breathtaking effect. Simone walked down the aisle and across a little bridge, seven beautiful bridesmaids ascending before her. [Yes I know, SEVEN, and all dressed in different colours :)]

After the ceremony there was one little girl in particular that caught my eye. She appears to be a very keen dancer. She also had some great fashion tips for all us shoe lovers out there: cerise pink pumps is a definite must have ;)

Wedding dress code ~ rose dress from Mr Price, black stockings, black ballet-type pumps, black waist belt. And jewelry: all pearls! How do you really know what wedding dress code is? Especially since I'd never been to a garden wedding before.

Let me know how you're all doing?

PS: I'm really batting to change my image size in my new template, so excuse the tiny pics. Any tips?

I'm all for it! Do you own a pair?

Or these cute little hearty shorts :) hah!

This scarf is a Mr P. buy, who would've said? As are the jeggings and boots. They really are out doing themselves lately! Way-ta-go! :) This gorgeous blouse is by Y&O at YDE.

Jodi, you have the most beautiful smile, quit being so damn serious! :)

PS. please excuse my colour + black&white excitement!
